It is not unusual to see the OLSH chapel filled with purple during the advent season. But on Sunday, December 8th, there was plenty of purple and some gold as well, for a slightly different reason. As we enter the season to celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, OLSH is also in the midst of the start of the winter sports season. Over 150 students, parents, and coaches from the girls and boys basketball and bowling teams joined the Sisters for Mass. While Sr. Francine Horos cantored the mass, students of the girl’s basketball team proclaimed the readings. Fr. Bill Dorner, OLSH Chaplain, reminded the students during his homily that they “are representatives of Christ at all times, especially on the court”. Students were encouraged to continue to share the word of God through their actions. It was a good time to remind all members of the congregation that this season is the season of giving gifts of God. What greater gift could be given to God than simply doing the right thing when called to it. The OLSH students are reminded about the importance of service to God by the principles and the foundation set by the Felician Sisters who were sitting in the first couple of pews.
