The OLSH theatre department has expanded its opportunities for students over the past several years. The group began competing with the Pennsylvania High School Speech League (PHSSL) Drama Festival. The competition begins at the regional level. This year, OLSH hosted the regional festival, welcoming North Allegheny, North Catholic, and West Allegheny's groups to our stage. OLSH took first in our region, qualifying to the State level with 2nd place finisher, North Allegheny. In early January, the group traveled to Bloomsburg University for the State Festival. Here, OLSH placed 4th overall and was also recognized as the All State Crew. Margaret Matous '20 was named an All State Actress.

 

The group performed an excerpt of the play "The 39 Steps" which they had done earlier this fall at OLSH. The cast included James Benke '21, Sarah Davison '20, Caroline Friend '20, Margaret Matous '20, Xavier Moskala '20, Ellie Troiani '21, and Joe Valenty '20. The crew included Grace Gartley '21, Sydney Komoroski '21, Kevin Mikush '20, Lisa Nardozzi '20, Ella Ondercin '20, and Sophia Wegrzynowicz '21. The show was directed by Ms. Dolores Manuel.
