Congratulations to Sydney Komoroski ’21 who was recently awarded the Passavant Memorial Homes Foundation (PMHF) 2021 Community Service Scholarship. This $10,000 scholarship was created to honor the memory of Jamie Ellenberger, an individual served by Passavant Memorial Homes Family of Services and who was an active member in the community. Sydney was selected for this scholarship because of her dedication and commitment to community service. "We are so proud of Sydney and all of the great work she has done in the community,” commented principal Tim Plocinik. “Her involvement in service is done for all the right reasons and she understands the importance of helping others. Sydney represents the Felician Core Values remarkably well." Sydney’s community service resume is quite impressive, completing projects for organizations including Little Sisters of the Poor, Satchels of Caring, Light of Life Missions, Yellow Ribbon Girls, and Vincentian Home. She has volunteered for St. Alexis parish, Aquinas Academy, and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Earlier this year, Sydney organized a five-week long peanut butter and jelly collection drive to benefit North Hills Community Outreach. At OLSH, Sydney has served as a Student Ambassador, and was a member of concert choir, theatre, and the bowling team. She is also a member of LeadersNow International and is a Girl Scout, working to complete her Gold Award. Sydney will attend Walsh University in the fall, studying nursing.
