Transfer Student Welcome Day is planned and run in part by a small group of OLSH Student Ambassadors. The fourteen ambassadors on hand last week began the day with our new students in a Q&A session before taking them on a full tour of the school. Students learned where their classes will be held and had the opportunity to meet school counselor Mrs. Pihlblad, who was available to go over class schedules with them.
It was a beautiful sunny day, so everyone enjoyed their Chick-fil-A lunch outside together in the OLSH courtyard, a popular lunch spot for students on warmer days throughout the school year.
Mrs. Steuernagel and Mrs. Snatchko were present to teach the Felician Core Values course in the afternoon. OLSH students typically complete this class in their Freshman year, but new transfer students are given the opportunity to complete it on their summer welcome day so as not to cut into their regular class schedule. The class serves to give students an understanding of the core values that we seek to live by as a ministry of the Felician Sisters, and includes a tour of various peace sites throughout campus.
At the end of the day, our new students gathered in the chapel to receive a blessing and Blessed Mary Angela Medals from school chaplain, Fr. Bill Dorner.
We can’t wait to have these new Chargers walking our hallways when school begins later this month!
