2021 Mission & Heritage Week: Telling Our Stories

This year's theme for Mission & Heritage Week was Telling Our Stories, reflecting on our history and the stories from the various Felician-sponsored ministries around the country. OLSH students participated in prayer and service activities throughout the week to honor the Felician Sisters and their example for OLSH as one of their ministries.

The week kicked off with Mass on Monday for the Feast of St. Francis. As a Franciscan order, St. Francis is an important figure in the history of the Felician Sisters. On Thursday, students walked to the Sisters' cemetery on the OLSH campus and prayed for the Sisters who have given their lives to service and God's works, honoring their legacies.

On Wednesday, students were invited to bring cash donations for Our Lady's Pantry (the emergency food pantry  at OLSH that serves the local community) or donations of diapers and wipes to be donated to Choices Pregnancy Center in loving memory of Baby Jude, the son of a current OLSH family who was stillborn. On Friday, freshmen who are taking Felician Core Values in the first semester participated in a Day of Service. Small groups of students went to six different locations in the community to spend the day serving others.

We work to live out our Felician Core Values daily, but Mission & Heritage Week serves as an important opportunity to reflect on our history and the Felician Sisters.
