Togas, pirates, twinkle lights, and a championship trophy were among the many different costumes and decorations found throughout the AAC on September 24 at the first OLSH Trivia Night event. Guests were invited to decorate their table with a theme and this year’s participants did not disappoint! With everything from Halloween to Italy to Legends of the Hidden Temple, teams of parents, coaches, alumni, and teachers were excited to share a night of competition and fun.
Pittsburgh Bar Trivia hosted the contest, providing 10 rounds of challenging and entertaining trivia questions, including two special music rounds that had the room singing popular tunes as they guessed lyrics and song titles. The competition was fierce with the first place team winning by just one point. Congratulations to the winning team, the Saints, that included teachers Mr. Zach Korzi and Sr. M. Francine Horos and alum and coach Jamie Uziel ‘10, as well as some of their family and friends. Coming in second and third were Water Wizz and Get “Served”.
In between rounds guests could participate in fun games of chance. Alum and basketball coach Nick Luchini ‘13 was the lucky guy of the evening, winning both Heads or tails and Dead or Alive, and many guests went home with a bottle of wine from the wine toss or a gift card from our gumball machine game.
The evening raised over $6,000 for the OLSH Athletics General Fund, which covers the cost of things like referees and officials, transportation, essential equipment, and team uniforms. With 68% of OLSH students playing at least one sport, athletics is an important part of the culture of OLSH and it remains a priority to offer a variety of quality opportunities for OLSH student athletes.
