Students, parents, alumni, and other community members gathered together on Sunday morning to participate in the 33rd annual Love Walk for the Poor. All participants were invited to bring donations for Choices Pregnancy Center or for Our Lady’s Pantry. Donated items include mittens, diapers, non-perishable food items, and more. The group celebrated Mass together in the OLSH chapel, before gathering their belongings and donations and heading out into the cold to walk to the Felician Sisters’ cemetery for a blessing. Everyone then walked back to the school to drop off their donations.
The Love Walk for the Poor is an experiential way for participants to learn the hardships that people in need face in having to carry their possessions with them through harsh weather every day. It is special for everyone involved, and helps our community to develop compassion and empathy for others.
