Seniors Celebrate Final Days of High School

On their final day of classes, members of the senior class arrived in the AAC parking lot at sunrise to have an outdoor breakfast together. Students decorated their school uniforms with tie-dye, glitter, feathers – you name it! For the remainder of the day, they invited classmates and teachers to sign their shirts to keep as a special memento.

The following day, we sent seniors off to their final class retreat at Youthtowne, but before we did, they participated in OLSH traditions that have been around for years. Seniors gathered together in the auditorium in the morning to watch a retrospective video of their time throughout OLSH, put together by class historian Owen McLaren. They loved looking back on special memories from freshman year through now. After watching the video, underclassmen and teachers lined up in the hallway outside of their classrooms and said goodbye to seniors as they filed through each floor. The Senior Walkthrough is a special opportunity for the seniors to take a final walk down the halls and to say goodbye to their friends and teachers.

Seniors processed straight into the chapel, where they received San Damiano crucifixes at a special blessing service. Class president Austin Hansen reflected on their memories as a class and the exciting journey ahead of them. Junior class president Elena Polar also addressed the seniors, expressing how much they’ll be missed and wishing them luck in their future endeavors. After singing the Alma Mater, seniors walked out the back doors of the chapel and headed straight to Youthtowne for their class retreat. At the retreat, students bond with each other and open up letters from their classmates.

This week is always one to remember, and is full of so many special moments as the seniors head into graduation!
