After winning a WPIAL Class 2A gold medal in the 110m hurdles in his junior year, Antonio Votour ‘23 set out to defend his title at the 2023 WPIAL Championship track meet. He not only won gold again, but set a new WPIAL record, running 14.30 in the final. At the State Championship in May, Antonio set a new personal record (14.28) while capturing first place in his race. “I may not be the fastest runner, but I’ve got my technique down,” Antonio told TribHSSN after his race. “That’s the difference in close races. You have to be so technically sound. You have to keep moving over the hurdles and run faster.”
In addition to his OLSH success, Antonio competed in indoor track throughout the winter months. He concluded the season at the Adidas Indoor Nationals in Virginia Beach in March, where he took first place in the champions bracket, earning All American honors.
