Freshman Foundations Day started the 2023-2024 school year off on the right foot. Working alongside faculty, staff, and Student Ambassadors, the OLSH Admissions team was excited to plan this special day for our incoming class of 92 freshmen. Students began their day in the morning at the Angela Activities Center participating in icebreakers and team building activities. They showed off their competitive spirit in a rousing game of musical chairs and split up into groups to complete an escape room activity to familiarize themselves with the OLSH campus.
Student Ambassadors taught our new students the ins and outs of OLSH, performing a skit on how to properly wear the school uniform and the IALAC (I Am Lovable And Capable) skit to show them how important it is to be there for each other. New music teacher Mr. Tomasello taught the Alma Mater in preparation for the Matriculation Ceremony later in the day, and members of Campus Ministry shared some of the great ways they can express their faith at OLSH
Families were invited to join the freshmen for Mass in the OLSH chapel after their orientation activities concluded. The Mass and Matriculation ceremony served to formally welcome the class into the OLSH family. Each student received a Blessed Mary Angela medal, blessed by OLSH chaplain, Fr. Bill Dorner.
Following Mass was a light reception for everyone in attendance. Students and their families enjoyed the opportunity to get to know one another better and to begin to form long-lasting friendships before their classes officially began.
We are incredibly grateful to have so many new Chargers joining the OLSH community and wish them the best of luck on their freshman year!
