Philip DuBois ’24 Named National Merit Commended Student

The National Merit Scholarship Program has announced its Commended Students for the 69th annual awards. OLSH senior Philip DuBois has received this distinguished honor. High school students were automatically entered into the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2022 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The nationwide pool of Commended Students includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. About 34,000 students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise.

This past summer, the College Board recognized Philip as an AP Scholar with Honor for having achieved an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams throughout his high school career to date.

In addition to his academic achievements, Philip plays on the OLSH soccer team and is a member of National Honor Society and Junior Achievement. He has volunteered his time at OLSH events like the annual Auction and was awarded the Gold Award for Service Hours last school year, having completed 157 hours of service throughout the year.

“We are incredibly proud of Philip for this outstanding honor,” OLSH principal Tim Plocinik commented. “His achievement is a testament to his diligence as a student, the support of his parents, and the educational opportunities provided by the teachers at OLSH.”
