Updates & Resources

OLSH is carefully planning for a variety of scenarios for the 2020-2021 academic year, and a committee of faculty, staff, and administrators are considering recommendations from the PA Department of Education, PA Department of Health, Allegheny County Health Department (ACHD), and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as we develop policies and guidelines related to this ongoing public health situation. Information will be communicated to parents and students via email, and updates will be posted on this page.

The committee meets weekly and is planning for a variety of possibilities, including:

  • All students returning to school full time for face-to-face instruction
  • A hybrid schedule with a portion of the student body attending school 2-3 days per week, alternating with remote learning from home 2-3 days per week
  • Online instruction in the event of a mandated school closure
  • Options for families who have health concerns about a return to in-person instruction

Athletics Updates

The documents below should be referenced for students and families regarding a return to athletics practices. Please note that as the public health situation is constantly changing, changes may be made to this policy at any time. Updates or changes to the information below will be noted.

Student-athletes and parents will need to submit a signed waiver and will be asked the pre-screening questions before any in-person practice or activity.

OLSH Athletics – Pre-screening Questions
Questions asked of each athlete, by a team coach, prior to a workout/competition:

  • Has your temperature been taken today? What is your temperature?
  • Have you had any cold, flu-like symptoms, coughing or breathing issues in the past 14 days?
  • Have you travelled out of the state/area in the past 14 days?
  • Have you had any close contact with a COVID-19 diagnosed person in the past 14 days?

Travel guidelines
We are implementing the following additional health and safety precaution, until further notice:

If a player or coach travels out of state to a reported "Hot Spot", they must quarantine for 14 days prior to rejoining the team for team activities or present evidence of two negative COVID-19 test results through an FDA approved nasal swab test taken at least 48 hours apart following the player or coaches return home.

As of July 7, 2020, the following are considered "Hot Spots":

Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Louisiana, Mississippi, Nevada, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Utah.
