OLSH Speaker Series

The OLSH Speaker Series was launched in 2023 with grant funding to invite speakers to share about dynamic and relevant topics for OLSH students, parents, alumni, and the extended local community!
 

Join us for an evening with


Shannon Dee Williams, Ph.D.
 
"America's Real Sister Act: Black Catholic Nuns in United States History"
will survey the long and rich history of Black Catholic nuns in the nation.
 
Dr. Williams is an associate professor of history at the University of Dayton. She is the author of Subversive Habits: Black Catholic Nuns in the Long African American Freedom Struggle (Duke University Press, May 2022) and the winner of the 2022 Letitia Woods Brown Book Prize from the Association of Black Women Historians and the 2023 Wesley-Logan Prize from the American Historical Association and the Association for the Study of African American Life and History.
