Parents are essential and valued members of the OLSH community.
Parents find a home at OLSH just as often and as easily as their students do! There are a host of opportunities to volunteer, various social events just for parents throughout the year, and many parents build friendships with fellow OLSH parents that last a lifetime.
We work hard to keep parents informed about everything happening at OLSH through our school calendars, weekly Grapevine emails, monthly e-newsletters, and other communications. We encourage parents to stay connected with what's happening around OLSH through the News section on our website, our social media channels, and the school calendar. Parents who have specific questions or want to get more involved can contact the Main Office at (412) 264-5140.
Parent Ambassadors
OLSH Parent Ambassadors are current OLSH parents who have been identified as having a passion for the school, credibility among the parents, connections in the community, and a desire to advance the school. Parent Ambassadors share their time, experiences, and perspectives in order to strengthen the sense of community among OLSH parents, increase the visibility of OLSH in their parishes and communities, and assist in the acquisition and retention of new families into the OLSH community.
Parent Events
Throughout the year parents are invited to take part in events with a social or informational purpose. At the Back to School Parent Social, parents have an opportunity to reconnect, meet new friends, and socialize with fellow parents in a casual setting. Meet the Teachers Night gives all parents the chance to meet their students' teachers and learn more about the courses in which they are enrolled. Throughout the year other social and informational evenings are held for various purposes and parents are welcome and encouraged to attend!
Volunteering at OLSH
Each year, OLSH is blessed with numerous volunteers who help with a variety of tasks and serve as office assistants, library aides, chaperones, concession workers, set builders, coaches, and more.
In order to protect our students and maintain compliance with the policies of the Diocese of Pittsburgh and the mandates of the state of Pennsylvania, we have implemented a screening process for all employees and volunteers who may come into contact with our students. Please click here for details on this process.
