OLSH has been alive with activity all summer preparing for the 2019-2020 academic year, making plans to welcome new students and their families at our annual Freshman Foundations Day, Matriculation Ceremony, and Welcome Picnic, and looking forward to seeing our teachers and returning students again. The days have been busy with transfer student interviews, student group meetings, and the completion of top-to-bottom summer cleaning tasks that have our facilities in top shape! The local community theatre group presented the hilarious show, The Drowsy Chaperone, to audiences the first weekend of August. The show featured performers from the community, as well as OLSH students, parents, and alumni.

A group of students and adults from OLSH participated in the Mission Trip this summer to Frenchville, PA. The group completed a week of service, supporting residents of the area, living out the Felician Core Values, as they worked for and built relationships with the people they served.

The 2014 graduate was salutatorian of his class and played on the Chargers basketball and football teams, and went on to play at Pitt and UNC.

The OLSH Class of 2019 will leave behind a championship legacy, playing key roles in one of OLSH’s most successful years in sports and the arts.

First-year teacher Chase Feher has been a welcome addition to the science department, bringing fresh perspectives and ideas to his biology students, including taking his AP Bio students on a field trip to the Pittsburgh Zoo this spring.

Throughout the year, students have a variety of opportunities to serve others and live out the five Felician Core Values. This spring, several opportunities arose at a fitting time – around the feast day of St. Felix of Cantalice and Blessed Mary Angela’s birthday.

Dr. Deborah Deakin came to OLSH as a substitute math teacher after retiring from her work in administration in the Quaker Valley School District. She now serves as Curriculum Consultant at OLSH, supporting the development of new curriculum, professional training for teachers, and overseeing the AP program at the school.

The group focuses on the four pillars of scholarship, leadership, service, and character and students are selected based on academic performance, as well as demonstrated leadership and service, and an interview.
